Women First Home Down Payment Grants and Mortgage Subsidies
From LoveToKnow Mortgage
Many women feel like they may never own a home, but women first home down payment grants and mortgage subsidies are available to help achieve that dream. Don't let financial limitations trap you. Take the time to research the grants and subsidies that offer the financial aid you need to break free of renting.
Grants Available for Women
Today more grants are available to women than ever before. In fact, women have a bigger opportunity to obtain government grants than any other socioeconomic group. It is unfortunate that less than 15 percent of women ever take the initiative to apply so they can benefit from these free grants. Often women don't apply for government grants because they think they'll be turned down or they assume they don't qualify. Others just don't want to go through the hassle or don't know where to start. Billions of dollars of free grant money is waiting for women to take advantage of the opportunity. Within these grants are funds to help with women first home down payment grants and mortgage subsidies.
Other Useful Grants for Women
Along with getting money to help you purchase your first home, you can apply online to find grants to help women pay for:
- Home repairs
- Rent
- Mortgage payments
- Utility bills
- General living expenses
- Real estate taxes
Find Women First Home Down Payment Grants and Mortgage Subsidies
Grant programs exist to help women apply for government grants but to go through these programs will cost usually between $30-$100. They are not charging for the grants but for the information. They take complex information and mold it into a easy-to-understand format for the average person so it can be used as a research tool. The information they disseminate helps put grant money into the everyday person's hands. However, you can do this research yourself if you are diligent. Remember, grant money is not a loan and will not have to be repaid. The extra effort it takes to procure a grant is well worth the effort if it can help you purchase your house.
Housing Grants
If your bad credit is preventing you from getting approved for a conventional mortgage, a housing grant may offer the relief you need. It is also interesting to note that if you apply for a housing grant it does not disqualify you from applying for other grants at the same time. Perhaps you'd like to start a business or go back to school. Take the time to research the grants available to you. To start your search for housing grants, use the list below:

Housing Subsidies for Individuals
A government housing subsidy is a grant. However, the money is not paid in cash to those who receive it. Instead, if you are purchasing a house the money goes directly from the government to the seller of the house. Such a subsidy can be used to build a new home but it must comply with minimum standards set by the government.
Don't Get Scammed
With all the information on the internet today, it's easy for misinformation to lead you down a road to more heartbreak. So be sure to do your research. If you have questions, contact the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for more information.

-- Contributed by: suzanne percivalSafiya, because of your occupation you may be eligible for certain grants that aren't available to everyone. If you belong to a nursing association or union then ask a representative about any down payment grants they may know of.
You might also be eligible for a grant depending on where you buy the house. Some areas of the country - such as rural areas or locations that need development - have down payment assistance and grant programs available. A local Reator should be able to help you find out if any local area falls into these categories, or you can visit the FHA website (www.fha.gov) to search grants specific to your state.
Because of your income, you may be able to avoid a twenty percent down payment requirement by getting a piggyback loan or some other form of creative financing. See my previous reply to Patricia for information regarding these types of loans.
Good luck!
